Journal Entry: Day 1
Dear Diary,
Today, we embarked on the most epic adventure. Eight of us, backpacks full of what we will need for the next 10 days and a burning desire to conquer the mighty Mont Blanc. We were ready to take on the world, or at least the stunning French Alps.
What's The Mont Blanc?
Before we dive into the nitty-gritty of our hiking escapade, let's talk about Mont Blanc. No, we're not talking about a fancy dessert (although that would be delicious). Mont Blanc is the highest peak in the Alps, standing tall at a whopping 4,810 meters. It's like the Messi of mountains, commanding attention and awe from all who lay eyes on it.
With our hiking boots laced up and our spirits high, we began our ascent. The trail was challenging, but the breathtaking views made every step worth it. We huffed and puffed our way up, feeling like a bunch of determined penguins climbing Mount Everest (minus the icy tuxedos).
As we trekked through the picturesque landscapes, we stumbled upon a hidden gem—a cozy little café nestled amidst the mountains. And to my surprise they had Yerba Mate!
Yerba Mate: The Drink of the Gods
Yerba Mate, pronounced yer-bah mah-tay (not to be confused with your best friend from Austriallia), is a traditional South American drink made from the leaves of the yerba mate plant. It's like a caffeinated hug for your taste buds, giving you a boost of energy and a whole lot of flavor.
After our cold plunge in the glaciered river, we sipped on our Yerba Mate, feeling like we had stumbled upon the elixir of life. It was like the mountains themselves were whispering ancient secrets into our cups. We couldn't get enough of its earthy goodness and the way it made us feel invigorated, ready to conquer any peak that came our way.
As we continued our hike, Yerba Mate kept popping up into our lives to carry us along this journey. Along this hike we encountered blistered feet (Michael saved the day here) unexpected white out conditions and the occasional cow in the path. But through it all we laughed and enjoyed each others company along with some of the best food, "these are the best raspberries I've ever had in my life"!
Our journey up Mont Blanc wasn't just about reaching the summit; it was about the memories we created along the way. From impromptu dance parties on mountaintops to hilarious inside jokes that will forever be etched in our hearts, we discovered that the real treasure was the friendships we forged.
So, dear diary, as I sit here, surrounded by the beauty of Mont Blanc and the laughter of my friends, I can't help but feel grateful. Grateful for the adventure, grateful for the Yerba Mate that fueled us, and most of all, grateful for the incredible people by my side.
Until tomorrow,
Your adventurous (and slightly caffeine-fueled) friend
